Pirate Coat

Pirate Coat

I am almost finished with my wife's Pirate coat for this season. It is a 1740's frock coat with the 3 godet's to make it fluff out at the waist. The only real alteration is the cuffs hit the wrist on her rather than being up at the middle/top forearm. She didn't like the shorter length arm. I would have worn it outside to show it off but the chest area doesn't fit me and it is overcast and wet.

This ring is also the world's smallest chest set

The tiny board, made from fossil ivory and ebony, flips up on wincy hinges to reveal 32 minuscule chess pieces. The ring itself is sterling silver, and there's only one of them, made by Arduosity, who notes "I can tell you it is impossible, near impossible to set up."

Stone house in Portugal

While on a trip to Portugal, Daria Chuvaeva “heard from a local barman about an unusual stone house located in the Fafe Mountains,” she says. Chuvaeva decided to journey to the offbeat dwelling, known as the Casa do Penedo, and this image is the result of her effort. “Even if I got lost a few times, I can say that it was definitely worth it,” she writes. “There was something mysterious in that boulder house, and I took photos of it for a few hours.”

Muddy Meet and Greet

Muddy Meet and Greet

A struggle to navigate a mud-bogged road in China’s Yunnan Province turned out to be a photo opportunity for Attila Balogh when a curious water buffalo calf studied his lens. “We were driving down a supposedly province-level highway,” he writes. “As it turned out, it was an unpaved road. June is rainy there, so we had a very difficult trip, with small lakes forming in the middle of the road, where we had to stop to determine if we could pass with our tiny car.
